William J Folk

William J. “Bill” Folk, 76, of McClure, PA passed away at his family farm surrounded by his loved ones on Tuesday, June 9, 2026. Bill was the son of the late Alton E. and Dorothy C. (Knepp) Folk. 

He was a graduating member of the class of 1967 from West Snyder High School. 

Bill retired from PP&L as a lineman after having survived an electrocution. Bill was a proud member of the 173rd Airborne Brigade, 11th Special Forces, Green Beret, U.S. Army from 1968-1970 and Army Reserves from 1973-1975. He served in the Army National Guard from 1984-1985. He was a Vietnam Veteran. He was awarded the Bronze Star, 3 Purple Hearts and the Combat Infantry Badge. Bill was very fond of writing letters to the editor and sticking up for what he believed in. Besides his family, preserving his country was a great passion. His love of learning never stopped. 

Bill is survived by his wife Jacqueline L. (Howell) Folk. They celebrated 55 years of marriage on March 13. Bill is also survived by his daughters, Brandi Ferster (David) of Northumberland and Katie Ferguson (Donald) of Penns Creek; grandchildren, Andrew, Colleen, Erik (Liz) Ferster, John, Skylar, Madison (Josh), Riley (Bryce), Abby, and Peyton; great-grandchildren, Noah, Aubree, Jaxson, Oden, Nevaeh, and bonus grandchildren, Sarah Steiner (Peyton); a brother Norman (Cindy) Folk of Northumberland; and numerous nieces and nephews.   

He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother Helen Folk; an infant son; and numerous aunts and uncles. 

Bill was a member of the VFW, Legion Post # 5640 and 201.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 13 from 2-3 pm at the Kreamer Funeral Home, 130 S. Zechman St., Beavertown followed by a celebration of life at 3 pm. Full military honors accorded by the Middlewest Veterans Honor Guard will follow.
