Kolbe Hunter Straw June 11, 1995 – June 26, 2025 (Life of the party. Outdoorsman. Marksman. Archer. Hottie. One of a kind.) Kolbe Hunter Straw lived loud, loved big, and left a mark on everyone lucky enough to know him. He was the guy you heard laughing across the yard, the one rallying the crew before sunrise for a hunt, and the one who showed up when it mattered—with his whole heart.At the very center of Kolbe’s world was his wife, Paige—his best friend, his match, and the absolute love of his life. They were true teammates, partners, and constant companions in life’s chaos and beauty. Their daughter Izzy—his “Scrap”—was Kolbe’s heart walking around outside his chest. From the moment she entered his life, he was all in as a dad. Their bond was strong, silly, and full of love. And this September, Kolbe was set to become a girl dad all over again. Paige is 28 weeks pregnant, and though the baby doesn’t have a name yet (because Kolbe “couldn’t make up his mind”), he couldn’t wait to meet her. He talked about her constantly and lit up just thinking about what life would be like with two girls to love and protect.Kolbe had a special bond with his nephew Kason, who looked up to him as more than an uncle—he was a hero, a mentor, and a best friend. That relationship meant the world to Kolbe. He was also a proud uncle to Tori, Pearson, and Lane. He would’ve moved mountains for each of them. Kolbe was the proud brother to Brittany (& longtime partner Matt) and Kassie, who loved him deeply—even when he was being, without question, their ultimate pain in the butt. He kept them laughing, kept things interesting, and knew exactly how to push their buttons. Their bond was built on shared memories, sibling antics, and unconditional love.Kolbe was shaped by the example of his dad, Randy, and his Pa Paw, Harry, who didn’t just teach him how to hunt and fish—but how to be a man: grounded, hardworking, and full of purpose. Their bond was strong and built on shared time in the wild.He also found deep connection and constant support in the Bentzel family, who became a second family to him in every way that counts.Kolbe’s faith in Jesus Christ was real. It wasn’t flashy—it was steady. He believed in grace, in redemption, and in living with purpose. He knew what mattered: loving your people, protecting what’s worth protecting, and living for something greater than yourself.He was greeted in heaven by his Pa Paw and is survived and missed dearly by his wife Paige, daughter Izzy, their soon-to-arrive baby girl, his father Randy (Helen), mother Lorie (Derek) sisters Brittany (Matt) and Kassie, grandmas Alva Straw & Georgia Shuller, nieces and nephews Kason Straw, Tori, Pearson, and Lane Cooper, Knox & Haven Hartley, Mack, Hank & Celia Shirey and Paige’s parents, Jim & Michele Goss and Laurie & Ben Myers along with sisters-in-law, Morgan (Sam) Shirey and Lily (Brandon) Hartley. 

We’ll celebrate Kolbe’s life on Thursday, July, 3, 2025 at 6:00 PM at God’s Missionary Church, Beavertown. Come dressed how he would: in camo. There will be a meal graciously provided by the church after services and then close family and friends will be welcomed to Lake View Farm for a shot-gun send-off. In lieu of flowers, consider donating the go-fund-me set up for Kolbe’s girls, sending a gift from Paige and Kolbe’s Target Registry, or taking a long walk in God’s Country in Kolbe’s honor. Kolbe lived big, loved hard, and left nothing unsaid. He was a husband, dad, son, brother, uncle, friend—and every role he filled, he filled with everything he had. He’s not gone. He’s just out ahead of us—scouting the next ridge, saving us the best view.
