James Etzler Obituary

James F. Etzler, 91, of Beavertown, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2024, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
He was born Sept. 20, 1932, in Beavertown, a son of the late George and Margaret (Gilbert) Etzler. He was married to the former June Bingman who preceded him in death on May 4, 1988.
James was a graduate of Beaver Vocational High School.
He served in the United States Army from 1953-1954.
James was a member of St. Paul's Reformed Church in Beavertown.
He worked for Ben Walter (present day B&R Farm Equipment), the Beavertown Silk Mill, and Standard Steel for 28 years until his retirement while also working on the family farm.
His greatest passion in life was taking care of his farm. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, especially his great-grandchildren.
Surviving are two sons, James (Deborah) Etzler, Jerre (Amy) Etzler; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; his long-term companion and caretaker, Jean Melton; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jill K. Etzler; brother, Robert Etzler; four sisters, Betty, Martha, Arla and Georgianna.
A viewing will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 12 at the Kreamer Funeral Home, 130 S. Zechman St., Beavertown followed by a private funeral service with Pastor Tim Reich officiating.
Burial will be held in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Beavertown.
