Jack L. Wagner, 85, McClure
Jack L. Wagner, 85, of McClure passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
He was born October 19, 1940 in Lewistown, a son of the late Clyde C. “Butch” and Pearl E. (Searer) Wagner. Jack married the former Gloria E. Hawk on March 17, 1962, who survives. Together they shared a marital union of 64 years.
Jack graduated from West Snyder High School with the class of 1958.
He was a member of Mount Bethel Church in McClure.
His first employment after high school was with the Visco Corp. in Lewistown where he would deliver mail. Jack went on to work as an auctioneer at Manheim Auto Auctions for 50 years and operated his own auctioneering business, Wagner Auctioneering Service which is now a 4th generation business.
Jack loved to play golf, shoot trap, and fishing trips to Canada. In his younger days he was active in the McClure community borough council. He was a member of the McClure Bean Soup Committee and was chairman of the 1967 McClure Centennial Committee. He loved people and had a gift for storytelling, always ready with a joke to make others smile. He cherished his coffee time at Hillside Market, but most of all, he treasured every moment he spent with his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife Gloria are two sons, Trent A. (Sherryl) Wagner and Craig A. (Greta) Wagner; four grandchildren, Garrett (Natalie) Wagner, Lauren, Payne, and Chloe Wagner; three great-grandchildren, Judah, Micah, and Waylon; one brother, Joe (Debra) Wagner; one sister-in-law, Harriet Botdorf; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister and brother-in-law, Sally J. (Leon) Fisher; and two brothers-in-law, Baird Hawk and Gerald Botdorf.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, May 6 from 12-1:30 pm at Mount Bethel Church, 16 E. Specht St., McClure followed by the funeral service at 1:30 with Pastor Tad Schlegel officiating.
Burial will follow in McClure Union Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to honor Jack’s memory may be made to the McClure Veterans Memorial Pool, 32 E. Ohio St., McClure, PA 17841 or to Mount Bethel Church, 16 E. Specht St., McClure, PA 17841.
Arrangements are by the Kreamer Funeral Home, 130 S. Zechman St., Beavertown.
