Gale R (Hackenberg) Richard

Gale R. Richard, 80, of Beaver Springs, went to be with the Heavenly Father Sunday, Sept. 22, 2024, surrounded by her loving family after a four-year battle with pancreatic cancer.

She was born in Franklin Township, Snyder County on May 31,1944, a daughter of the late Paul and Nellie (Fetterolf) Hackenberg. On June 23, 1982, she married Benjamin J. Richard who preceded her in death on May 2, 2022.

Gale was a 1962 graduate of Middleburg Joint High School.

She was employed in Human Resources and Payroll departments at Lyon Fashions, Thor America, and retired from Custom Building Systems.

She was a lifetime member of Zion Fellowship Church, formerly Zion United Methodist Church.

Gale is survived by two children and their spouses, Carey and Stacy Lepley and Kim and Glenn Dressler; four grandchildren and their spouses, Tara and Joe Shawver, Marissa and David Latimore, Caitlyn Holland and Ken Monroe, and Zachary Lepley; great-grandchildren, Landon and Hayden Shawver, Kowen Holland and Brooklynn Monroe; four stepchildren and their spouses, Steve and Ruthann Richard, Stacie and Rod Shambach, Beth and Robin Nornhold, Tracie and Mike Seitz; step-grandchildren, Steve Jr. and Jeremy Richard, Jordan and Alexandra Nornhold, Ashley and Alyssa Shambach, and Jaden Seitz; two sisters and their spouses, Beverly and Ned Decker and Connie and Ronald Nipple.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Marian Hackenberg.

Gale was known for her excellent cooking and baking. She took great pride in her home where she spent many hours decorating and looked forward to planting flowers every spring. She enjoyed antiques, traveling, shopping with her daughter, and spending time at the beach. Gale loved music, and especially enjoyed listening to her grandson Zachary play. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and her beloved dog, Skippy.

Friends and family will be received from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, at the Kreamer Funeral Home, 130 S. Zechman St., Beavertown, where the funeral will follow at 2 p.m.

Burial will be held in Zion Fellowship Church Cemetery with a meal to follow at Zion Fellowship Church.
