Edna G Smerroskie

Edna G. "Dolly" Smerroskie, 89, of Selinsgrove, passed away Thursday, Dec. 26, 2024, at her home.

She was born Feb. 25, 1935, on the family farm in Beaver Springs, a daughter of the late Frank R. and Edna V. (Bell) Klinepeter. On Feb. 14, 1988, she married Casper J. Smerroskie who preceded her in death on Feb. 21, 2022.

Edna attended Beaver Vocational High School and graduated in 1953.

She worked at Kinney Shoe Co. in Beaver Springs and then for Harrisburg News, where she retired from.

Edna is survived by one daughter, Kim DeLong; grandchildren, Shaun (Ashley) Knepp, Troy (Amy) DeLong, Tonya (Shawn) Morris, Amanda (Kyle) Buttorff, and Teagan DeLong; step-children, Stan (Sara) Smerroskie and Dawn (Doug) Ebersole; one brother, Fred (Grace) Klinepeter; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband Casper, she was preceded in death by one son, Timothy DeLong; sisters, Annabell Heeter and Nancy Walker; brothers, Lewis, Clark, and Sam Klinepeter.

Edna had a great life; she and Casper did a lot of traveling and especially enjoyed trips to Las Vegas and California to visit their nieces and families. She was a wonderful mother and friend and she will be sadly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at the Kreamer Funeral Home, 130 S. Zechman St., Beavertown followed by a celebration of life service at 11 with Pastor Tommy Rubillo officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to honor Edna's memory may be made to the donor's favorite charity.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated caregivers for their compassionate care and support, Ann, Lynn, Vickie, Amanda, Sandy, Penny and Linda. Also, to Hospice of Evangelical and a special thank you to Bobbi and Julie.
