Clayton Shawver Obituary

Clayton C. Shawver Jr.
February 7, 1939 - January 18, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Clayton C. Shawver Jr., 85, on January 18, 2025, in McClure, PA. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend who touched the lives of many with his kindness and passion for horses.
Born on February 7, 1939, in McClure, PA, Clayton spent his entire life in his hometown, where he developed a deep love for raising and training quarter horses. His dedication to his work and his passion for animals left a lasting impact on those who knew him.
Clayton proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1964, as part of the 491st Engineer Battalion. His service was a testament to his commitment and sense of duty.
On July 1, 1995, Clayton married the love of his life, Billie M. Shawver. Together, they built a life filled with love and shared passions. He is survived by his devoted wife, Billie, and his daughter, Casey J. Shawver.
Clayton was a proud member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), and the American Legion. His lifelong love of horses led him to be a dedicated member of the American Quarter Horse Association for over 50 years, where he contributed greatly to the equestrian community.
Clayton is also survived by his siblings: Mary Hoffman, Shirley Knepp, Carol Hess, Pearl Goss, Ruthann Bubb, and Randy Shawver. He was preceded in death by his son, Brian L. Shawver.
A memorial will be held this summer at Moondust Meadows, with the date and time to be determined.
Though Clayton has departed this world, his love for horses, his sense of humor, and his devotion to his family will be remembered and cherished forever.
